Seems like I’m still alive
Got home from the hospital the same day too (yesterday but was too tired to post then). The operation consisted of tracheal shave and voice surgery (eek) so now I’m not allowed to speak for 2 weeks.
The surgery was scheduled to start at 10.30 which was when I was given some pre medication. However, it took until 14.00 for the surgery to actually start. Then I think I woke up something past 16.00 and when asked by a doctor how I felt, I was already sane enough to just raise my thumb up.. I think x) Strange though.. I always thought there was no dreams during anesthesia but I did indeed have some nice dream.
For those who don’t know what those surgeries mean, tracheal shave basically means shaving of the adam’s apple. Now I have no idea how they do it but obviously it required them to cut my neck x) …so I’m guessing they literally shaved it partially off with something.
The voice surgery done here in Finland nowadays is supposedly very different from the technique that gained such a horrific reputation in the United States back some years ago. It’s a combination of shortening the vocal cords to gain higher pitch and then tightening of them by using laser to alter the umm.. tone I guess. This technique supposedly came from Germany and is still rather new. The doctor said that even if the surgery didn’t go well, the result wouldn’t be worse but it might be possible that there was no actual change in the voice. Because of the laser, the final result can only be heard after around 3 months. However, in theory I shouldn’t be able to slip to the old too low voice any longer which should allow me to make my speech more melodic.
Supposedly everything went well so now I’ll be recovering for at least 2 weeks and trying not to fail the after care. The pain is mostly as if I had a sore throat from flu or something although it gets quite bad if I don’t take pain meds every now and then.
And yesterday’s daily outfit as well
Sorry for not having any makeup on though. They didn’t allow me to do that.

Wow! I’m behind on my news! Congrats on the surgery and I hope you find the voice that reflects how you want to be heard : )
